This recipe comes from Sugar Spun Run. I turned this chocolate cake recipe into a Mississippi Mud Cake, which is a chocolate cake that has mini marshmallows, in my case marshmallow creme, spread on top and topped with a pourable chocolate frosting that sets up as it sits. My review is for the cake itself. It's extremely moist but it's bitter from too much cocoa and possibly too much baking soda. Usually a 9" cake will need no more than 1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa in my opinion and this used two tablespoons more, so I'd like to try it again with less cocoa.
I grade this a B.
